"'With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.'.....do this in remembrance of Me."
"Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, 'Take this and divide it among yourselves; for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom of God comes.'
"And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, 'This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.'
"Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table. And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!'" (Luke 22:15-22).
Christ gave His life as the perfect Passover sacrifice.
"'These are the feasts of the Lord, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times.
"'On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lord's Passover.'" (Leviticus 23:4-5)
"'Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.
"'Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
"'And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it...
"'For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.
"'Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
"'So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.'" (Exodus 12:5-7, 12-14)

Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. (1 Corinthians 5:7)
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29)
Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. (1 Peter 1:18-19)
Jesus Christ fulfilled the symbolism of the Passover lamb. Indeed, all the sacrificial sin offerings represented and were fulfilled by Jesus Christ (Hebrews 9:11-12).
Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?
But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. (Romans 6:16-18)
And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. (1 John 3:4)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...(Romans 3:23)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. (Hebrew 9:28)
THE FOOT-WASHING CEREMONY
Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself.
After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. (John 13:1-5)
So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?
"You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.
"If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
"For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you." (John 13:12-15)
As the apostle Paul taught, we should "be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself... Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had" (Philippians 2:3, 5,)
In the opening story (Luke 22:19-20), Jesus Christ instituted new symbols at His last Passover.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." (Matthew 26:26)
By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. (Hebrews 10:10-12)
But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God...
Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
"I am the bread of life.
"Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
"This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.
"I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." (John 6:48-51)
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? (1 Corinthians 10:16-17)
For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.
Jesus is the Bread that makes eternal life possible as we allow Him to live in us (Galatians 2:20).
And the fact that His followers all partake of this symbol of Him highlights the unity He wants us to have.
Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.
"For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:27-28)
For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:13-14)
"This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them," then He adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." (Hebrews 10:16-17)
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:19-22)
The wine of the New Testament Passover represents Jesus Christ's shed blood. His sacrifice made the forgiveness of our sins and the removal of our guilt possible.
This opened the way for the New Covenant that God makes with Christians, writing His laws on our hearts.
We make this covenant when we are baptized and renew it each year at the Passover.
Though the high priest was the only one allowed to go into the holiest place in the temple, the "Holiest of All" or the "Most Holy Place," and only once a year, the blood of Jesus opened the way for us to pray directly to our Father in the true holiest place in heaven at any time.
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. (1 Corinthians 11:23-28)
Paul, the apostle to the gentiles, taught the Church to observe the New Testament Passover with its new symbols of bread and wine as Jesus had taught him. And the Church was to continue to "proclaim the Lord's death till He comes"—until His second coming!
Paul instructs baptized Christians to examine ourselves to make sure we do not participate in this solemn ceremony in a careless or unworthy way.
Obviously, no one is "worthy" of Christ's sacrifice, but Paul is not talking about deciding we shouldn't take the Passover because we aren't "worthy." We are to examine ourselves to make sure we see our vital need to observe the Passover and to have a repentant, humble and respectful attitude that allows us to take the symbols in a worthy manner.
Passover is the vital first step in God's plan of salvation. Without Jesus Christ's sacrifice to make forgiveness of our sins possible, we would all be doomed. But through God's incredible love and mercy, He has laid out an awesome opportunity before us!
Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed CHRIST, OUR PASSOVER, WAS SACRIFICED FOR US. (1 Corinthians 5:7)
Baptized members are to keep the Passover as an annual memorial of our Savior's death by which he paid the full penalty for all of our sins. After repenting and being baptized (as according to the Scriptures) we are to faithfully observe the Passover as an annual renewal of our acceptance of the new covenant. When at all possible we are to keep the Passover before our God with other members of the Body (as we commanded to do for His annual and weekly Sabbaths) but when this is not a possibility we are to observe these set apart days in our homes (God knows every situation). You can listen to the Passover service that has been recorded online and follow the instructions for when to begin the foot washing ceremony, and taking of the bread and wine.
Therefore LET US KEEP THE FEAST, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but WITH THE UNLEAVENED BREAD OF SINCERITY AND TRUTH. (1 Corinthians 5:8)
BUT WITH THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, AS OF A LAMB WITHOUT BLEMISH AND WITHOUT SPOT.(1 Peter 1:19)
Christ (Y'shua the Messiah) introduced the new symbols of the Passover (no longer the killing of an actual lamb for He is the Precious Lamb of God); so know we take of His Blood and His Body. BLOOD--Red wine (something like Merlot, Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon)--a small liqueur glass size for each person. BODY--Unleavened Bread--non leaven containing Rye Krisp or Ryvita--flat bread baked w/o leaven products (i.e. yeast, soda, baking powder and other leavening agents) or Jewish Matzoth/Matzos.
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "BEHOLD! THE LAMB OF GOD WHO TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD! (John 1:29) And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, "BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD!" (John 1:36)
Now BEFORE THE FEAST OF THE PASSOVER, WHEN JESUS KNEW THAT HIS HOUR HAD COME that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. (John 13:1)
THE FOOT WASHING CEREMONY (fellowship with others)--We are to wash one another's feet as Christ showed the night He kept the Passover (as He desired) with His disciples. This symbolizes that members who have been baptized (bathed) still get their feet spiritually dirty (i.e. when we sin after baptism it is still that same One Sacrifice that cleanse us from our sins when we sincerely repent and are forgiven by God. We are to wash someone else's (one another's) feet. The person is to be of the same sex (the only exception is husband and wife may wash one another's feet if no one else is present with them). We need a small bowl/basin that can fit a foot with water. We are to wash one foot of the other person and dry it with a towel and then we change places allowing the person to wash and dry our foot (one foot at a time). Once both feet of both persons are wished and dried we get rid of the water and put our shoes back on and continue the Passover service.
TAKING OF THE BREAD AND WINE--One person is to uncover the unleavened bread on the plate by removing the white cloth that was placed over the plate. The Passover prayer will be said and then the bread is to be broken into small pieces. One person then presents all others with a piece of the broken unleavened bread from the plate. Each person is to eat a small piece. When all have eaten/taken a small piece the white cloth is to be replaced over the leftover portions. Then you are to uncover the white cloth from the glass(es) of wine. The Passover prayer will be said and then one person will present all others with a glass from the tray. Each person is to drink one of the glasses of wine. When all have taken a glass the white cloth is replaced over the glasses.
Passover, is an appointed time of the Lord and is NOT a Sabbath/High Day/Feast. It is the Preparation Day for the Days of Unleavened Bread. (Lev 23:4-5)
Passover is the 14th day of the 1st month and fulfilled by Christ on the 14th. It is a memorial of the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Y’shua the Messiah), our Passover, who made possible the forgiveness of sins, which opened the way for God the Father and Christ to dwell – live – in us. (1 Cor. 5:7; John 14:20-23)
Passover service includes the foot washing ceremony. (John 13:3-15)
Jesus (Y’shua) instituted the new Passover symbols of the bread & wine on the evening of the 14th which replaced the O.T. killing; eating of a lamb on the 14th. (Luke 22:14-20, 1 Cor 11:23-30)
The Passover service is for baptized members only. Leavened bread may be eaten on this day but must be removed from our homes by sundown that day. Work can be done on Passover as this day is not a Holy Day {High Day/Feast/Annual Sabbath} (John 6:48-58, Eph. 1:7)
The Days of Unleavened Bread—kept for 7 days (a Feast encompassing 2 of the 7 Annual Holy Days of God, the 1st & 2nd Annual Sabbaths—High Days of the year—the 15th & 21st Day of the 1st month). Lev. 23:5-8
No leaven is to be in our homes for the 7 days and we are to eat unleavened bread and refrain from eating leavened products for the seven days. (Lev 23:5; Ex 12:15-20)
The first day of the Days of Unleavened Bread is called a night to be much observed. (Ex 12:42; Num 33:3) Spiritually God is freeing us (spiritual Israel) from Satan (the Pharaoh/god of this world) through the Passover Blood (Red Sea) of the Precious Lamb of God.
Leaven is symbolic of sin because leaven puffs up just like pride puffs up. Eating unleavened bread symbolizes our desire to obey God and eat of His way of life—truths—becoming spiritually unleavened. We are to examine ourselves, repent of and put away sin from our lives. (1 Cor 5:6-8; Num 28:17)
The wave sheaf offering is given offered up by the high priest (now Christ forever) on the 1st day of the week—Sunday—during the Days of Unleavened Bread. The Wave Sheaf on Sunday morning pictures Christ ascending to His Father (after He was already resurrected before sundown on the 7th day Sabbath). (Lev 23:9-14; John 20:17)
No work is to be done on the 1st and 7th day & offerings are to be given on these and all Annual Holy Days. (Lev 23:7-8)
PASSOVER (Ex 12:6-8)
Passover over service ends with a song (ex. Palms. 51--2010) and then any unused red wine and unleavened bread is discarded AND CAN NOT BE USED OR CONSUMED.
"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every LAWLESS DEED and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works." (Titus 2:11-14)
UNLEAVENED BREAD (Ex 12:41-42; Deut 16:1; Lev 23:6-7)
Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel. (Exodus 12:15 NKJ)
On the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat--that only may be prepared by you. (Exodus 12:16 NKJ)
Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to the Lord. (Exodus 13:6 NKJ)
Wave Sheaf Offering Lev 23:11-14; —Christ ascends to the Father fulfilling the Wave Sheaf.
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'THE FEASTS OF THE LORD, which you shall proclaim to BE HOLY CONVOCATIONS, these are My feasts. (Lev 23:1-2)
'These are the feasts of the Lord, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their APPOINTED TIMES (Lev 23:4)
Unleavened Bread: 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; seven days you must eat unleavened bread. 7 On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it. 8 But you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord for seven days. The seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it.' (Leviticus 23)
Wave Sheaf: 11 He shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. (Leviticus 23)
Commanded Offerings: God commands that an offering be given Him on each annual Holy Day. There are three Feast Seasons of the year which encompass the 7 Annual Holy Days. (Deut 16:16-17)
1. The Passover Season—Passover (not a Holy Day) and the Days of Unleavened Bread (2 Holy Days)
2. The Season of Pentecost—Pentecost (the third annual Sabbath)
3. The Feast of Tabernacles season (the seventh month includes Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles and the Last Great Day)
2nd Tithe: This is different from the tithe offered on the 7th day Sabbath (% of net increase). The second tithe is used primarily to enable the keeping of the Holy Days of God, particularly the Feast of Tabernacles for the entire 7 days and the Last Great Day—the 8th day or day right after the Feast of Tabernacles. We are expected to put aside extra resources to keep the feast. (Deut 14:22-26)

GOD'S WORD MISUNDERSTOOD AND MISTAUGHT: ANOTHER LOOK AT COLOSSIANS CHPT 2
Some claim that Colossians 2:16-17 does away with the Sabbath and Holy Days. (We will see later that it does not.) Others claim that the annual Sabbaths were part of Moses’ law. They were not, because they were observed before Moses’ law of ritualistic orders had been given. Others claim that sacrifices were performed on these days—but Numbers 28:3 shows that sacrifices took place on every day of the year.
THE TIMING OF PASSOVER
Passover
The subject of Passover will be addressed in this article. Some brethren have become confused about the correct timing of Passover. The controversy over the 14th and 15th has been growing in the past two years.
The following article will define terms that have been misunderstood or misapplied. Once you understand these Bible interpretations and the timing of these events, the entire story of Passover will become more inspiring and exciting. The story flow of these events will not be addressed in this edition.
CHRIST INTRODUCES A NEW ORDIANCE FOR PASSOVER 'SPIRITUAL' 'SYMBOLIC': FOR THE N.T. CHURCH
Christ Introduces a New Ordinance to Passover
As Christ and the disciples were eating the Passover lamb on the eve of His crucifixion, He took this opportunity to show how His Church should observe Passover from that time forward.
(1) What action did Christ perform during the Passover meal? John 13:1-5.
Comment: It was actually “during supper” that Christ interrupted the meal in order to demonstrate a new ordinance the disciples were to carry out in each succeeding Passover service. The phrase in verse 2, “and supper being ended,” should be translated as “during supper.” It was at this point in the meal that the devil put the inclination into Judas Iscariot to betray Christ.

COLOSSIANS 2:16-17
For centuries, people have tried to use Colossians 2:16-17 to say that Christians are not required to observe the Sabbath and holy days. This distortion stems partly from a misunderstanding of Colossians 2:14, which many claim says that the law was abolished and nailed to the cross, and partly from having a carnal mind, which is enmity against God and His law (Romans 8:7). They reason that Paul is saying in verse 16, "Therefore [since the law is done away] don't let anyone condemn you for eating unclean meats or not observing the Sabbath or holy days."
"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works."
