THE LAW OF GOD VS. THE LAW OF MOSES

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Written by God on stone
EXO. 31:18
And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

EXO. 32:16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

THE LAW OF MOSES

Written by Moses in a book

2 CHRON. 35:12 And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen.

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Called "the Royal law"

JAMES 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

THE LAW OF MOSES

Called "Law contained in ordinances"

EPH. 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Called "the Law of the Lord"

ISA. 5:24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

THE LAW OF MOSES

Called "the law of Moses"

LUKE 2:22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord.

SO INDEED WE KNOW THAT GOD IS NOT A GOD OF CONFUSION, THERE MUST HAVE BEEN TWO LAWS REFERENCED IN THE SCRIPTURES.

IN OLD TESTAMENT GOD SAID THAT "HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL NOT BE ABOLISHED" AND THEN JESUS CHRIST SAID THAT "HE DID NOT COME TO ABOLISH THE LAW OR THE PROPHETS"

THE LAW OF MOSES

Placed in the side of the ark

DEUT. 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Placed inside the ark

EXO. 40:20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark:

And THE TEMPLE OF GOD WAS OPENED IN HEAVEN, and there was seen IN HIS TEMPLE THE ARK OF HIS TESTAMENT: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail. (Revelation 11:19)

THE LAW OF MOSES

Ended at the cross

2 TIM 1:10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, WHO HAS ABOLISHED DEATH AND BROUGHT LIFE AND IMMORTALITY TO LIGHT through the gospel,

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Will stand forever

LUKE 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

THE LAW OF MOSES

Added because of sin

GAL. 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Points out sin

ROM. 7:7 What shall we say then? is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust (covetness), except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet

ROM. 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

THE LAW OF MOSES

Contrary to us, against us

COL. 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Not grievous

1 JOHN 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous.

THE LAW OF MOSES

Judges no man

COL. 2:14-16 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
(see posts on what was abolished, what is required and more about Col 2:16)

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Judges all men

JAM. 2:10-12 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

THE LAW OF MOSES

Carnal LAW

HEB. 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Spiritual LAW

ROM. 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

THE LAW OF MOSES

Made nothing perfect

HEB. 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

THE LAW OF GOD
(THE 10 COMMANDMENTS)

Perfect

PSALMS 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOD'S SABBATHS AND THE SABBATHS CONTAINED IN THE LAW OF MOSES

And as Isaiah said before: "Unless THE LORD OF SABAOTH had left us a seed, We would have become like Sodom, And we would have been made like Gomorrah." (Romans 9:29 NKJ)

Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and THE CRIES of the reapers HAVE REACHED THE EARS OF THE LORD OF SABAOTH. (James 5:4 NKJ)

(Colossians 2:14, Ephesians 2:15)

14. Abolished by Christ. Ephesians 2:15.
15. Blotted “out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us.” Colossians 2:14.

I know that WHATEVER GOD DOES, IT SHALL BE FOREVER. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him. (Ecclesiastes 3:14)

Did not your fathers do thus, and did not our God bring all this disaster on us and on this city? Yet YOU BRING ADDED WRATH ON ISRAEL BY PROFANING THE SABBATH." (Nehemiah 13:18 NKJ)

An altar of earth you shall make for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. IN EVERY PLACE WHERE I RECORD MY NAME I WILL COME TO YOU, AND I WILL BLESS YOU. (Exodus 20:24 NKJ)

(Jeremiah 17:26 NKJ)

you also, as living stones, are being built up A SPIRITUAL HOUSE, a holy priesthood, to OFFER UP SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES ACCEPTABLE TO GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST. (1 Peter 2:5 NKJ)
